Divemaster Course

This is the first step in using your diving abilities and your love of the underwater world to "go pro". Prerequisites for this course include being a Certified Rescue Diver, having at least 20 logged dives, and for this one, you must be at least 18. You should also possess a good degree of physical stamina and the desire and maturity to take on the responsibility for others.

This class consists of in-depth training in both academics and water work, but the advantages of this level of certification are well worth the effort. The time needed to achieve this certification varies. Due to the length of the academic and internship placeholderprogram, dependent upon availability of the student and instructors, it generally takes 3-6 weeks to complete. By the end of this class, you must have a minimum of 60 logged dives to be certified "Divemaster".

The focus of the programme is the PADI system of diver education and developing presentation skills, to enable you to pass your knowledge and experience on to student divers. It covers use of PADI materials, PADI standards, how to present and gives an introduction to teaching in confined water.

The Assistant Instructor course forms the first part of the full Instructor Development Course (IDC). Upon successful completion of the course you can conduct knowledge development presentations, evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills, teach the Peak Performance Buoyancy and Project AWARE Specialty courses.

Course Prerequisites

  • Divemaster candidates must be 18 years old, be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver, or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.Have at least 20 logged dives. In order to certify as a Divemaster, candidates will be required to have 60 logged dives, with experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation.
  • Candidates must also provide proof of having completed a medical examination within the previous 12 months showing fitness for diving.

Assistant Instructor Course

Upon successful completion of the course you can conduct knowledge development presentations, evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills, teach the Peak Performance Buoyancy and Project AWARE Specialty courses.

Course Prerequisites

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • PADI Divemaster rating or qualifying certification from another certification organization.
  • 60 logged dives, including night, deep, and navigation.
  • A certified diver for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Certificate of first aid and CPR completed within previous 24 months.
  • A diving medical completed within the 12 months.
  • Duration: 4 days
